Access Management with Shepherd Lock's Mobile App

Shepherd Lock provides peace of mind whenever you have questions about who has accessed your home, how long they remained inside, and whether or not your door is locked or unlocked. These and other features are part of access management, giving you the power of knowing who is coming and going, and the power to take action, even if you are not near your home.

Control your lock from anywhere in the world.

Some of the access management features on our mobile app include:

Permanent Keys. Permanent keys are those with no time restrictions placed upon them. For a family home, these tend to be given to primary partners, older children, or other family members who can come and go anytime. Each permanent key comes with the same sharing restrictions placed upon temporary keys: no one can share their permanent key with anyone else. Each key is unique and is connected to the user’s phone.

Temporary Keys. Temporary keys are generally shared with those who do not have longterm access to the home, or who cannot enter the home outside of certain time windows. On the Shepherd Lock mobile app, the homeowner can decide and grant access to the temporary user on certain days of the week, choose which hours of the day the user can enter or exit, and if these settings for the temporary key are repeating or one time. Temporary keys are a great option for tasks needing to be done in the home, for babysitters or dog walkers, or for out of town friends who do not intend to stay permanently. Once the time window has expired, the key will automatically be revoked and will no longer grant the user access.

Remote Lock/Unlock via the Wifi Bridge. Combining Shepherd Lock’s mobile app with the Wifi Bridge allows homeowners to monitor and control app features from anywhere in the world. If the homeowner is traveling and sees that one of the doors with the Shepherd Lock module installed is unlocked, the homeowner can remotely lock it with a simple action in the mobile app. Additionally, if the homeowner is away from the home and a temporary key needs to be modified or revoked, they are able to easily do this within the mobile app. The same is true for modifying permanent keys. Safely locking or unlocking the door remotely and monitoring virtual keys are essential to overall home security.

Whether you are at the store, in the office, or out of town, you can remotely lock or unlock your deadbolt with Shepherd Lock’s mobile app.

Intelligent Door Status™. If you have ever wondered whether or not you, your child, spouse, partner, or friend have securely closed the door upon exiting the home, you know how the anxiety of not knowing feels. Shepherd Lock’s mobile app comes with a feature that will tell the primary user if the door is open, closed, or somewhere in between. This feature is called Intelligent Door Statusand it gives the homeowner peace of mind if there is ever a doubt about the security of any of their doors that are equipped with Shepherd Lock.

Detect and Thwart™ Lock Picking Attempts. Smart locks come with varying amounts of security features. Shepherd Lock offers a unique ability for the module to recognize when the lock is being manipulated through a normal touch-to-enter or keyed entry interaction or if a lock picking attempt is being made. If the module detects a lock picking attempt, the lock automatically disables and does not allow the deadbolt to be retracted, either with a lock picking tool or with a physical key. At this time the primary user receives a notification through the mobile app and can determine what the next action steps should be for the security of their home.

Virtual Lock Monitoring. Some homes will choose to incorporate one Shepherd Lock. Other homes and commercial buildings will choose to incorporate multiple Shepherd Locks. Regardless of the number of locks, each one can be virtually monitored through the mobile app. The primary user can manage multiple locks from the same app, whether those locks are on one property or multiple properties. Each lock comes equipped with its own identity on the mobile app so the activity, users, temporary and permanent keys, and other notifications, are all displayed for easy monitoring. The primary user can also customize which notifcations they prefer to see so that only the activities that are important to them will be brought to the forefront.

Shepherd Lock’s mobile app expertly provides you with important features that can make the difference between having secure entry to your home and putting the home at risk.
